I did it, folks! I’m 18 miles into my marathon training. 18 MILES! It almost doesn’t completely compute – I actually ran 18 miles, straight, on-purpose, and I liked it. Sort of.
While, I don’t feel a burning desire to run 18 miles everyday, I truly enjoyed getting several steps closer – literally – to my goal.
It was another early morning, 5:30 a.m., when we hit the street. The weather was much cooler with less humidity. It was fabulous for what would normally be a miserable August morning.
I had a good, steady run. We did 2:1 intervals and shortened our rest/water breaks considerably from last week. Four hours and seven minutes later we were done. I felt strong through the whole run but in the last half mile my body started asking me when I was going to stop. Seriously.
One of the most challenging things to me about the distance was the recovery afterwards. Yup, I was pretty much done for the rest of the day. No. Energy. At. All.
Thank goodness next week is a drop-back week, only 15 short miles.

I am applauding from afar. Good for you!!
Awesome job! I had an 18 miler this weekend too. Enjoy your fallback week!
Loud and vigorous clapping, all the way from England, mmm the having to rest after, can't give you any advice because I do the same thing!
Awesome job! You look like me napping after a long run. As soon as my 10-month-old took his afternoon nap, I was out like a light after 18 this Friday!!
Congrats! The weather was great for a run. Very cool and even a little windy. Instead of doing 18 miles, I think I'll try for 18 minutes :)
LOVE IT!! The double digit runs are sooo awesome.. Funny I always want to sleep but the kiddos down really let me. Keep it up with the BEAUTIFUL smiles
Congrats on your 18-miler! I think a little napping the rest of the day was well-deserved :)
WOW!!! All's I can say:)
Great job!!! I'm right there with you : ) Thanks for the awesome support of RMHC too!! It helps so much that we have your voice in the telling of our story!
