Motherhood Madness

Monday, September 13, 2010

There’s some days when I feel like I’ve got this motherhood thing on lockdown and I’m completely in control; and there’s some days that I wonder how did I get here and what the hell am I doing?

Real talk, folks.

Fortunately, when I have those I-have-absolutely-no-clue-what-to-do-moments I have a wonderful support system to give me guidance. This morning thank goodness one of my girls was there to talk me off the ledge and make me realize I’m not doing so bad; that I’m actually doing everything that I should be – that everyone has these moments and that I’m completely normal. Well, completely normal in this situation. Ahem.

School, grades, homework, attitudes, friends, play-dates, activities, did I mention attitudes, can be extremely overwhelming sometimes; but that’s just part of parenting.

When I let it out and bounce it off another mom somehow it makes it more manageable. How about you? When motherhood madness kicks in – especially on a Monday – how do you handle it? Moms on the edge everywhere want to know …

There’s No Such Thing as Too Much Tennis

Tuesday, May 11, 2010

While I’m quick to talk about my new found love for running I don’t seem to post too much about my other love – tennis. I’m not sure why as I’ve been playing, year-round, for the past 3 to 4 years. To say I’m addicted to tennis would be an understatement and now that Husband is playing, too, it’s pretty much apart of our daily lives.

This past weekend my USTA Women’s 3.0 tennis team won the Georgia State Championship. My teammates and I drove to Macon, Georgia, this past Thursday night and spent the next four days playing two matches per day against teams from all over Georgia and loved every second of it. Did I mention there’s no such thing as too much tennis? Aside from winning the championship, this weekend was so special because of the wonderful women I’m proud to call my teammates friends. The love, support and encouragement everyone consistently gives each other is amazing. Never have I been apart of such camaraderie with such a dynamic group of women. Everyone on the team has talent and is such a superstar; but what’s so special is they want to see their teammates shine even brighter than themselves. There’s no bickering, no pettiness, and no drama. And, that, my friends, is rare.

A Sneak Peek Inside Wifey’s House

I’m back from my BlogHer or Bust Road Trip and am now on the road to recovery. I learned many things on this journey including I’m not as young as I used to be. Gasp! After traveling in one car with four women through three states in five days I’m completely and utterly exhausted.

We had an incredible experience together, one that has warmed my heart and made life-long friendships. I was struggling with what to post today until I read Jennifer’s (Baby Making Machine). After wiping my tears away, I decided that she so eloquently wrapped up the weekend, I could simply share her words with you. Click here to read The BlogRollers Goodbye: New Sisters.

We bonded. Maintaining relationships with girlfriends often gets put aside as we scurry through life focused on our husbands, our children and our careers. I’m so thankful for the wonderful reminder I received this weekend to cherish all my friendships with all my girls! Thanks Christie, Denene, and Jennifer for the good conversation, for sharing your wisdom, for the laughter and most importantly for your friendship.
