Is it possible to have a successful career and a successful marriage?
I tackle that question and explore several tactics to make it happen in the current issue of Heart & Soul magazine.
On stands now, the February/March 2009 issue with our new First Couple on the cover features my article, “Working Wives, Balancing Marriage & Career,” on pages 54-55.
Make sure to pick your copy; and as always, please feel free to leave a comment and weigh in. Do you think it’s possible to have a successful career and a successful marriage? Working wives want to know…

Possible - yes. Just a little harder, a little more effort, and the priorities always need to be in the right order. If your husband is constantly thinking he comes after work, then you've got a problem. It does help to have an understanding husband.
Great comment. Being on the same page and having his support is really key in making things work. Thanks for weighing in - smiles.
It is definitely possible to have a successful career and marriage, but I don't believe in the word balance - "no such a thang" (Harpo on the Color Purple). Women juggle, not balance! I have a high maintenance husband - very high. The secret to my success is making sure hubby feels he is number one. Although he may be number five on some days, I sure make sure he FEELS like he's in the number one position. Yes, it does take a little more effort, but it sure makes life easier.
I'll be sure to pick up a copy of the magazine! How exciting!

Thanks for the tip. I might pick up a copy!
It is so incredibly possible and i have the best example in the world to judge by: my mother. She raised three kids, got her masters, and rose to one of the highest ranks in her chosen profession. She's my hero so i know its possible! :)
Um, does this include couples in business together who are driving each other crazy? Or is that a different topic of discussion:)
Thanks for the comments and input, ladies!
MOMSWEB, love "juggling" - so true. And I totally agree, ALWAYS make him feel like he's number one - even if he isn't.
Wenda, thanks for the love. I'll be by...
Tranquility, you're more than welcome - thank you!
Cairo Typo, you're mom sounds awesome. You know you did something right when your kids say such wonderful things about you.
Ms. Wanda - different situation when you work with your husband and a different set of rules. There's actually an article in the mag about that, too. :)
