A Sneak Peek Inside Wifey's House
There's a new addition at Wifey's House. Gasp! Yes, it's a baby - a baby fish. I'd like for you to meet Ryan.
Ryan is my son's first pet fish. I say first because fish have a habit of, how shall we say it ... moving on quickly when their owners are only 8 years-old. Miles got Ryan over the weekend as a reward for his good report card and I'm hoping this will be a great opportunity for him to learn responsibility. He has to take care of Ryan, because no one else - ahem- will.
How about you? What creatures are swimming, slithering or running around your house? Do you allow your kids to have pets; and who's taking care of them?

OK so this is painfully obvious that I will not be getting Mother of the Year but my boys wanted a dog soo bad for their birthday this year. We hunted high and low for the right pup...we found him. He was soo cute and fun and then about a month into it we realized, we are NEVER home...and I mean that honestly. We are at the hockey rink 4 nights per week plus football plus school and work. Our home is just where we lay our head ay night so SADLY after 2 months of owning a puppy, we had to find a new home for him.
Story with a happy ending- Our babysitter across the street took him, so now we can take him for walks, watch him ad play but he LIVES with them!!!!
How about that Novel?
We don't have any pets at the moment. I had a dog growing up and my parents said it was the kids' jobs to take care of her. She turned into my dad's dog though.
I love that the fish's name is Ryan! lol How did he come up with that name? I love beta fish they are so pretty:)
We have our 4 legged creature of a cat named Harley better known as Harlscat. Everyone love him. The kids pet and brush him. But when it comes to the litter box, guess who gets full responsibility of that. Not sure why the kids responsibility falls short on Harley when it comes to that LOL.
We have a puppy...Chili Dawg (who has his own Facebook Fan Page, by the way--become a fan of his--you can find the button on my website page). I love him so much and so do my kids, but my husband only tolerates him. It took us 2 years to convince him to even get a puppy. I have to admit though, he's so much work! It really is like having another kid. My son walks him after school and takes him outside to do his business if he's at home and feeds him in the morning. I walk him every morning, feed him in the evening and I'm with him most of the day. It has really helped that I found a doggie daycare that I like and I take him there once a week to play....and give me a full day to myself....or if the family is going to be gone all day on Saturday.
Hi, Ryan. Yeah. No. No pets here.
No pets! We've had fish before and the boys have tried to get pets by keeping their rooms clean, but of course it hasn't happened yet. Once they went for two weeks with a clean room and I started to get nervous. By the third week, they returned to their usual dirty room keepers. Whew! Close call (lol).
I can barely feed the 4 of us in the house and how in the heck am I gonna feed a pet! But Kudos to your son for a great report card.
No pets. We've had about 15 fish. I like guppies, and would buy a few, often ones that are pregnant. We'd wake up, and one would be dead, then the other. I'd buy more and the same thing. I gave up!
The kids want a dog. Shoot, I would like a small dog, but (the zoo keeper) I don't want to train it. And Mr. Husband to the kids no, we have very light, next to white carpet.
We have had so many pets over the ears, it's a shame! from fish to hampsters to cats and dogs. we all work together to take care of them, well except for the hampster. I dont do rodents. lol!
Kitties over here. Hubs and I share responsibilities. Although, my toddler and preschooler love to tell me when one has spit up a hair ball. They're good at that.
Indeed my girls have a pet fish named Billy Blue he is also a Beta. Now I must say that Billy Blue had a brother Reynaldo Red (also a Beta) that well...took a long swim to that big fish bowel in the sky. My 6 year old who is always hungry thinks that the fish are always hungry and well...Billy Blue now lives protected in my bedroom, alive and kicking for about 4 years now! The kids stop by to say hi but thats it.
So I am seriously considering a fish for my girls. Chatterbox is 5 and Giggles is 3. Are they too young?? They loooove fish and are glued whenever they come across a fish tank. Then again, do I really need another mouth to feed???
We have 2 hamsters and 1 dog...my house is a zoo.
Congrats on your new addition! We've got a big kitty and a parakeet... no slithery slimy things yet.
My daughter has had two goldfish on two separate occasions. That's right, I've killed four goldfish. Our Shih Tzu is so much easier to keep alive.
