I loved doing it. I usually rented a space (like a school or church gym) and did my own theme or rented a jumping thing, etc. Then I got burned out.

I did the same for my daughter for 5 years, but the number of kids I invited decreased dramatically--to about 6 kids. For her 6th birthday I invited the whole class to a local park on a random day off school and had Starbucks, muffins, juice boxes and snack food. It was simple and the kids had a blast just running around. There were no games, no goody bags--nothing--just the playground equipment and a ball or two. Last year I took her and 3 friends to the zoo and lunch; that was fine.

I made my son (who stopped having parties/friends celebrating long ago) have a dance party for his 13th birthday last year and he loved it.

I will never have a party at Chuck E Cheese. My husband whines when we have to go there LOL! Maybe a bowling alley party one day...the kids seem to like that.Funkidivagirlhttp://funkidivagirl.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30588414500487960.post-36529094201721023602009-05-04T22:18:00.000-04:002009-05-04T22:18:00.000-04:00I really don't like doing parties myself, because ...I really don't like doing parties myself, because I feel like I am stuck being the entertainment. I do allow my children (ages almost 16 in a few weeks and 13) to have parties every once in a while. But the rules are if it's something where I can't go to sleep, then it is wayyyyyyy too loud. The next thing is like, "Mom, how can we not be loud!" Then I tell them not to invite people over. Am I being cruel?QueenBeehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04460333532281245829noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30588414500487960.post-91787638511043594182009-05-04T17:41:00.000-04:002009-05-04T17:41:00.000-04:00This is too funny. Although my boys are older, they still get invited to toddler type parties! What the heck is that all about? Whenever I see someone coming towards me with a white envelope, I run the other way! We make birthdays EXTRA SPECIAL days to avoid having a party. The boys get to pick what they want to do and where they want to eat as long as a party isn't involved. I've gotten away with maybe one or two parties for both boys - WHEW!MOMSWEBhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03425350066254996873noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30588414500487960.post-13077974332280794442009-05-04T11:09:00.000-04:002009-05-04T11:09:00.000-04:00Bless you honey! Fortunately, I have managed to avoid that place with my two little ones.
My favorite party place is OPH - Other People's Houses. I have several friends that love to entertain and it shows. Whenever I go to their house for an event I feel so comfortable. That's not my thing at all. Whenever I entertain I feel so uptight and nervous the entire time. Needless to say, all of my kids birthday parties have been destination events.
;)Sapphirehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14191233668653651869noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30588414500487960.post-2438513189787706152009-05-04T08:48:00.000-04:002009-05-04T08:48:00.000-04:00Oh, nothing makes me happier than throwing the par...Oh, nothing makes me happier than throwing the party at my house... all those crazy kids, running through the living room, tracking their little greasy fingers all over the furniture and the curtains and the window, leaving potato chip crumbs and cupcake icing in their wake. Yeah. Fun times.

I have two parties to throw in June and both the girls insist on having them at the house. No bowling or Young Chef's Academy or laser tag, Mommy.
